Weekly Recap 2025W40

Welp, my blogging severely slowed this year. I've tried to do a few things to make it more active, which haven't worked out. Going to try again, with a weekly recap. This'll give me 7 days to update as to what happened the prior week. Let's see if it works! I'm going to separate it into Stuff I Did, Stuff I Learned, Stuff I Tried (probably mostly software and distros), Stuff I Found (links and the like), and Stuff I Watched.

Stuff I Did

Wanderland - I ended up winning two tickets to Wanderland, a beer/wine/cider/mead festival in Columbia, MD. My wife and I ended up going for about three hours. Highlights for me were the coffee stout from Diamondback Brewing and the Ryevival porter from Everyday Saint Brewhouse. My wife loved the peach cobbler moonshine from Rosie Cheeks Distillery and the massive tasting she was given by Clear Skies Meadery.

Trinity - We've been feeding a very friendly stray cat for the last couple weeks. We call her Trinity. This week she finally got friendly enough to let us pet her and pick her up. We eventually brought her inside. She's currently segregated away from the other cats. We've had her chip scanned and contacted the chip company, who has reached out to the owner. Her name is Miss Peaches and she's 10. We're waiting to hear from the owner.

Long Weekend - I took a four day weekend. Along with some of my consulting work, we acquired a new-to-us TV and did some yard cleanup. Also caught up on posting the church podcasts for the last four weeks.

Stuff I Tried

LMDE 7 Beta - While I mainly use Ultramarine KDE on my desktop, Debian remains my favorite Linux distro, and LMDE is one I want to use more often. Spun it up in VirtualBox. Release notes

Stuff I Found

Sendamatic - I was browsing AlternativeTo looking for a new transactional email provider and came across Sendamatic. It was the only one that I noticed that was on the Fediverse, so I decided to sign up. There's no free plan, but it's cheap for my needs, and the support staff is great. Website, Mastodon

I did a four movie Matrix rewatch. We also started season 1 of The Good Wife.
