Recap April 2026

Stuff I Did

Another CMS Swap – I remade Korora Solutions on WordPress+Divi and went live with it. I don’t have any sites running on Drupal anymore. I really did enjoy my time there, but I can just do a lot more, and do it quickly, with Divi.

PA trip – My wife and I headed to Pennsylvania to see my family. She went to a crushed glass craft class with my mom and sister. I ran errands with my dad in his 1972 Chevy C10. My parents recently had a tree taken down so my wife and I also cleaned up branches from their yard.

mintify.sh – I’ve been using CachyOS with Cinnamon on two laptops, but I’ve noticed a lot of of packages missing  that Linux Mint includes, so I made a script to make CachyOS with Cinnamon a bit Mintier. It’s on Codeberg.

Theatre – My wife and I went to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz at UMBC. It was fun and entertaining. It was also perfectly Baltimore. We really enjoyed ourselves. I wish I had a recording of the show.

Always Be Crafty – Visited Manor Hill Brewing in Ellicott City, MD, USA; Lost in the Wilds Brewing in Shippenville, PA, USA; and Black Locust Hops Farm Brewery in Freeland, MD, USA.

And a distro hop – I was having trouble getting my new mobile workstation to just work the way I wanted to in LMDE, so I swapped it to Linux Mint. It’s only been a couple days so there’s no telling if I’ll stay here, but if I have any issues I’ll surely be trying to make LMDE work once more.

Stuff I Tried

Arches – Since I moved to CachyOS on one of my machines I wanted to play around with some other Arch-based distros. I tried Endeavour OS, Garuda, Archcraft, and rebornOS. I couldn’t get rebornOS to install, it kept erroring. The others didn’t have any graphical software installers (that I could find) so I didn’t stay with them long. I’m big on desktop Linux, always have been, and if you can’t install software from the GUI out of the box, I don’t have much interest.

WP Workbench – Virtualmin Pro released WP Workbench while I was a Drupal user, so I didn’t have an opportunity to use it initially. I did use it recently to clone a WordPress instance and it worked well.

Stuff I Found

Fyra Stack A new VPS provider by the people behind Ultramarine Linux and Terra. I’ve pre-reserved a VPS to give it a try.

Another Bible – This post showed me to the Berean Standard Bible, a modern English Bible created for the Public Domain. I’ll be digging into it deeper once I finish my reading of the Free Bible Version.

The Linux Mint power mode auto changer will change to your preferred power mode when you plug or unplug AC on your laptop. Works with LMDE as well.

Pipeline A YouTube and Peertube client for GNOME.

Stuff I Watched

My wife and I finished catching up on the Chicagos. We watched the latest season of Shrinking. We also watched Project Hail Mary, which was amazong.

My parents, wife, and I watched season 1 of the Madison, which was great. We also watched GOAT, which was meh.

I’ve continued my slow watch of Farscape. I’m still not in love with it, despite enjoying most of the characters.
